Have you seen one of these bikes before?  It is a Recumbent Bicycle.  Comfort at its finest!

As you can tell from the picture, Recumbent Bicycle's are designed to give riders the ultimate comfort on two wheels today.  Why are they so comfortable.  Quite simply because you are in a bucket seat rather than sitting on the conventional bike seat.  There are no pressure points causing discomfort for riders.

Also, the rider is seated in a reclining position.  This takes any strain off of the lower back.  This allows for longer riding time.

So why doesn't everyone ride a recumbent?  Well, there are a couple reasons.  Recumbent Bicycles do not handle hills that well.  Since you are not able to put your weight into the pedals, riders are forced to reduce gears to get up hills.  Also, in high traffic areas, visibility is limited for recumbent bicyclists and those surrounding them in traffic.  Not a good bike for city commutes.

Summary- Recumbent Bicycles are ideal for those looking for comfort while riding on bike trails and in low traffic areas.  For those looking to ride in off-road conditions or in high traffic areas, this bicycle would not be a good choice.
