Moraine State Park is located about an hour north of Pittsburgh and offers a 7 mile paved path for bikers.  The trail takes you around a portion of Lake Arthur, the focal point of Moraine State Park.  The path has many twists and turns as well as some hills thrown in, but nothing to steep.

I have been on this trail many times, especially when I was a kid, but more recently I was riding one time at the end of winter.  The trail still had some snow on it in shaded areas, but the sun had melted everything else away.  The lake however, still had ice on it.  What I could not believe is that there were people on it ice fishing.  I noticed one pair of footprints that faded into the distance as some brave soul must have walked across the frozen surface.  I am not an ice fisherman by any means, but I think the paved bike path was the safer of the options for me!

Moraine is especially enjoyable in the summer.  It is then that there is a large amount of activity to be witnessed, most notably the boaters enjoying the opportunity to get out on the water.
