Day Two
Day
Two Photos- Cumberland, MD to Hancock, MD
Welcome to the Cumberland and Ohio Canal; C & O Canal for
short. The C & O is an abandoned canal that has been
preserved so that bikers, hikers, walkers, and joggers can enjoy
all of the treasures it has to offer.
Along the C & O, you travel between the canal and the
Potomac river in Maryland, across the river from parts of West
Virginia and Virginia. The C & O measures 184.5 miles,
stretching from Cumberland, MD to Washington, DC.
One note: I blew out a tire this day about 30 miles from
Hancock. I made it with in 10 miles of Hancock before I
blew out the tire, and only inner tube, again. It was a
nice day though, and a 10 mile walk never hurt anyone.
Only problem was that it was Sunday and the bike shop in Hancock
was closed. Thank God they are open on Mondays!!
Points Of Interest: Cumberland, MD, Various Aqueducts, Paw
Paw Tunnel.
