Alabama
was a short state, but provided us with one of the most
enjoyable rides. We only stayed one night, which was in
Bayou La Batre. The next day though, we rode to Dauphin
Island, where we caught a ferry, crossing the Mobile Bay.
The rest of the ride was along the Gulf in Gulf Shores, AL,
which is a vacation spot. There were generous shoulders
and sandy white beaches, making for a peaceful ride. It
was one of those rides where you felt very safe with your
surroundings, making it feel as though you could ride all day.
You just had a sense that you would not be "stranded" in any
way. There were places to eat, places to stay, and people
all around. By days end, we were in Florida.
